On 4 April 2019, the Dutch Government issued a release announcing the submission of a bill to the lower house of parliament for the implementation of an ultimate beneficial ownership (UBO) register, which is required by the fourth EU anti-money laundering directive. The UBO register is to enter into force in the Netherlands from January 2020, with companies and legal entities obliged to register information on their UBOs.
