According to a post from Nigeria's Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), officials from Nigeria and the Netherlands met on 7 July 2025 to discuss, among other things, the renegotiation of the 1991 income and capital tax treaty between the two countries. It is expected that a new tax treaty will be negotiated, although an amending protocol to the existing treaty is possible. Any resulting treaty or protocol must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
