Nigeria Revokes Rule Restricting the Recognition of Expenses that Require Approval

On 5 August 2019, the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria issued a public notice that it has revoked Rule 4 of the Council titled "Transactions requiring registration from statutory bodies such as the National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion." With the revocation, companies are no longer restricted from recognizing expenses in their financial statements that require approval and/or registration from statutory bodies in Nigeria. The notice is effective from 11 July 2019.
