Nigeria's Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) is reportedly planning for the introduction of VAT withholding on online purchases of goods and services. Under the plan, banks will be required to withhold VAT on any transactions between consumers and online suppliers. VAT is to be withheld by banks at the standard 5% rate.
