The Philippines Department of Finance has announced a proposal to extend the net operating loss carryforward for small businesses from three years to five years, which would require congressional approval. The proposed extension would apply for net losses that will be incurred in 2020 and is intended to provide small businesses more time to recoup their losses arising from the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) and other measures to contain the spread of COVID-19.
