Poland Extends VAT Reduction for Basic Foods Products and Other Aspects of Anti-Inflation Shield 2.0

The Polish parliament has approved an extension of the reduced VAT rates introduced as part of the Anti-Inflation Shield 2.0. Previously scheduled to expire on 31 July 2022, the following are extended to 31 October 2022:

• The 8% VAT rate on fuels
• The VAT zero rate for:
  • basic foods products
  • gas (natural gas); and
  • fertilizer for agricultural production;
• The 5% VAT rate for electricity and heating (thermal energy)
