On 16 May 2018, Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa signed the decree for the ratification of the pending protocol to the 1998 tax treaty with India. The protocol, signed 23 June 2017, will enter into force 30 days after the ratification instruments are exchanged and will replace Article 26 (Exchange of Information) to bring it in line with the OECD standard for information exchange.
