According to a 31 July 2023 release, Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa has signed the decree for the ratification of the pending social security agreement with Timor-Leste. The agreement, signed 28 June 2022, is the first of its kind between the two countries and will enter into force after the ratification instruments are exchanged.
