Proposed increase of VAT rate announced

On 14 January 2014, the Minister of Finance announced the proposal to increase the VAT rates by 2 percentage points. This means that the standard rate would be increased from 15% to 17%. The reduced rates would be increased from 6% and 12% to 8% and 14% respectively. The 3% rate for basic goods, however, would remain unchanged.
