The amending protocol, signed on 30 August 2010, to the income tax treaty between Switzerland and India, signed on 2 November 1994, as amended by the 2000 protocol, entered into force on 10 October 2011. The protocol generally applies in Switzerland from 1 January 2012 and in India from 1 April 2012.
