Romania's Ministry of Finance announced the following measures on 16 March 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
- The implementation of a new VAT refund mechanism for quicker refunds starting from 1 April 2020;
- The suspension of tax audit activity during the state of emergency and 30 days after, except for remote audits or where there is suspected tax evasion; and
- The postponement of tax return deadlines from 25 March 2020 to 25 April 2020.
