On 9 September 2014, the Romanian parliament rejected a request by the president to reconsider the bill reducing employer social security contributions by 5%. The bill was proposed in June and approved by parliament in July, but was returned by the president for reconsideration. The bill will now be returned to the president for promulgation.
The new rates will be as follows:
- 15.8% for normal working conditions
- 20.8% for difficult working conditions
- 25.8% for special working conditions
