On 15 October 2018, the Romanian Senate (upper house of parliament) approved the bill for the ratification of the pending social security agreement with Uruguay, which was approved by the Chamber of Deputies (lower house) in September. The agreement, signed 13 September 2017, is the first of its kind between the two countries and will enter into force after the ratification instruments are exchanged.
