Russia Approves Signing of Amending Protocol to Tax Treaty with Malta

On 9 September 2020, the Russian government issued an order authorizing the signing of an amending protocol to the 2013 tax treaty with Malta. The protocol includes an increase in the rate of withholding tax on dividend and interest income to 15%, with exceptions for a limited list of institutional investments providing for a 5% rate.
