On 5 April 2022, the Russian State Duma (lower house of parliament) approved the ratification of the pending social security agreement with Uruguay. The agreement, signed 22 September 2021, is the first of its kind between the two countries and will enter into force on the first day of the second month after the ratification instruments are exchanged.
