According to a release from Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, officials from Japan and Norway met on 7 December 2023 to discuss bilateral relations, including the negotiation of a social security agreement. Any resulting agreement would be the first of its kind between the two countries and must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
