Saudi Arabia's General Authority for Zakat and Tax (GAZT) has announced that the effective date for the recently expanded scope of the selective excise tax to sweetened beverages will be effective from 1 December 2019 ({News-2019-05-29/A/4-previous coverage}). From that date, the excise tax will be imposed at a rate of 50% on the retail price.
