Slovak Parliament Considering Increase in VAT Threshold

The Slovak parliament is considering a draft law that would increase the mandatory VAT registration threshold from EUR 49,790 to EUR 75,000 with effect from 1 July 2024. If approved, taxpayers currently registered for VAT would be allowed to deregister if their annual turnover (in the previous 12 months) is below the new threshold. Voluntary registration if below the threshold would continue to be allowed.
