On 20 June 2016, the South African National Treasury issued draft carbon offset regulations for public comment. The regulations are in relation to the carbon offset allowance of up to 5% or 10% included in the Carbon Tax Bill, which was consulted on in 2015 and planned to be effective from 1 January 2017 ({News-2015-11-04/P/2- previous coverage}).
