On 19 September 2014, the Swiss Federal Council approved the pending protocol to the 1978 income and capital tax treaty with Belgium. The protocol, signed 10 April 2014, update several articles of the treaty including the addition of a new exchange of information article in line with the OECD standard. The protocol also includes changed to the withholding tax rates for dividends and interest.
