Switzerland has set a referendum deadline of 10 July 2025 for the pending protocol to the 1971 income and capital tax treaty with Germany. The protocol, signed 21 August 2023, is the sixth to amend the treaty and was given final approval in parliament on 21 March 2025. It will enter into force once the ratification instruments are exchanged and will generally apply from 1 January of the year following its entry into force.
