The tax information exchange agreement between Australia and Uruguay entered into force on 1 July 2014. The agreement, signed 10 December 2012, is the first of its kind between the two countries and is in line with the OECD standard for information exchange.
The agreement applies retroactively from 1 January 2013 for criminal tax matters, and for other matters for tax periods beginning on or after that date.
