According to a release from Brazil's Senate (upper house of the National Congress) on the approval of the nomination of Alexandre Peña Ghisleni to serve as Brazil's ambassador Australia, negotiations are underway for an income tax treaty between the two countries. Any resulting treaty would be the first of its kind between the two countries and must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
