The income and capital tax treaty between Azerbaijan and Spain will enter into force on 13 January 2021. The treaty, signed 23 April 2014, is the first of its kind directly between the two countries. The 1985 tax treaty between Spain and the former Soviet Union had applied with respect to Spain and Azerbaijan but was terminated on 28 January 2008.
