Sri Lanka's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that the first round of negotiations for an income tax treaty with Cyprus was held from 29 to 31 October 2019 and that a final round of negotiations is to be held in February 2020. Any resulting treaty will be the first of its kind between the two countries and must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
