According to a release from Ecuador's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, officials from Ecuador and India met on 17 May 2019 to discuss bilateral relations, including the first round of negotiations for an income tax treaty. Any resulting treaty would be the first of its kind between the two countries and must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
