On 12 June 2008, Decree 6,165 was published in the Official Gazette 38,951 repealing the tax on bank accounts and financial transactions (BAFT) The BAFT was intended to apply from 1 November 2007 to 31 December 2008. Decree 6,165 entered into force on 12 June 2008.
