According to recent reports, the Thai government has proposed a withholding mechanism for the taxation of e-commerce supplies of goods and services in the country. This would include a 5% withholding tax on e-commerce payments, with the financial institution facilitating the transaction responsible to withhold and remit the tax. This is to apply to various supplies including online advertising, gaming, shopping, and others.
