The Netherlands Withdraws Ratification of Tax Treaty with Malawi

As previously reported, the Dutch Ministry of Finance sent a letter to the House of Representatives on its tax treaty negotiations plans on 14 March 2024. In addition to the negotiation plans, the letter also notes that the ratification of the 2015 tax treaty with Malawi has been withdrawn because the treaty is outdated and does not contain adequate anti-abuse measures, making its entry into force undesirable. The Netherlands had ratified the treaty in April 2018.
