Treaty and protocol between United States and Bulgaria enter into force

The US Treasury Department has announced that the income tax treaty and protocol between Bulgaria and the United States, signed on 23 February 2007, as well as the amending protocol, signed on 26 February 2008, entered into force on 15 December 2008. The new treaty and its protocols will have effect with respect to taxes withheld at source for amounts paid or credited on or after 1 January 2009.
