On 30 September 2013, the Germany - Luxembourg Income and Capital Tax Treaty (2012) entered into force. The treaty generally applies from 1 January 2014. From this date, the new treaty generally replaces the Germany - Luxembourg Income and Capital Tax Treaty (1958), as amended by the 1973 and 2009 protocols.
