The first-time income tax treaty and protocol between Spain-Malaysia, signed on 24 May 2006, entered into force on 28 December 2007. The treaty generally applies in Spain from 1 January 2008. In Malaysia, the treaty generally applies from 1 January 2008, and from 1 January 2009 for petroleum income tax.
