The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak, has decided to scrap the 2020 Autumn Budget, which was reportedly confirmed by HM Treasury on 23 September. It was previously expected that an Autumn Budget would be announced in October or November. The decision to scrap the 2020 Autumn Budget is due to the continued impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the government instead focused on addressing shorter-term issues such as continued business and employment support.
