U.S. House Ways and Means Committee Members Urge Treasury Secretary Yellen to Hold Germany Accountable for Unfair Taxes on Intellectual Property

U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-IA) has announced that a letter was sent on 8 June 2023 to U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen concerning Germany's taxation of intellectual property rights registered in German registers (German-nexus IP). As previously reported, controversial rules regarding the taxation of income from the rent/lease or sale of German-nexus IP under Section 49 of the Income Tax Law were partially repealed as part of the Annual Tax Act 2022 (JStG 2022) in December 2022.
