On 6 August 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump issued an executive order imposing an additional 25% tariff (ad valorem duty) on India, bringing the total tariff rate to 50% with effect from 27 August 2025. The additional tariff is being imposed due to India's purchase of Russian oil. Certain imports from India are exempt, however, including certain electronics and pharmaceuticals.
