On 1 June 2023, the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee approved the pending income and capital tax treaty with Chile. The Chile-U.S. tax treaty was signed on 4 February 2010 and is the first of its kind between the two countries. It will enter into force once the ratification instruments are exchanged and will apply from the first day of the second month following its entry into force in respect of withholding taxes and from 1 January of the following year in respect of other taxes.
