On 21 June 2023, the U.S. Senate voted 97 to 2 to end debate on the pending income and capital tax treaty with Chile, which will now go to a final vote. The treaty, signed 4 February 2010, has been held up for several years but has finally moved forward after certain concerns were addressed in the Foreign Relations Committee, including in regard to language on foreign tax credits. Support for the treaty has also recently increased, especially in relation to access to Chile's lithium reserves.…
