Ukrainian 'War Tax' Proposal Submitted to Parliament

On 25 July 2014, the Ukrainian government submitted to parliament a draft law to introduce a 'war tax' to support the Ukrainian army's anti-terrorist operation against pro-Russian separatists. The tax would be imposed at a rate of 1.5% on the wages of individuals working Ukraine whose salaries in 2013 amounted to UAH 500,000 (or equivalent) or above.

Under the draft, the tax would be introduced by the end of 2014.
