According to recent reports, officials from the Netherlands and Russia have again reached an impasse in negotiations for the revision of the 1996 tax treaty between the two countries. The two sides began negotiations in 2020, but having failed to reach agreement, the Russian Ministry of Finance began the process to terminate the treaty at the end of the year. The Dutch State Secretary for Finance then indicated that the Netherlands wished to continue negotiations.
