Officials from Bangladesh and Uruguay reportedly met during the week of 24 August 2019 to discuss bilateral trade and investment opportunities, including Uruguay's interest in the negotiation and signing of an income tax treaty. Any resulting treaty would be the first of its kind between the two countries and would need to be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
