On 16 November 2021, Uruguay's Senate approved the ratification of the pending protocol to the 2005 social security agreement with the Netherlands. The protocol, signed 2 September 2019, is the first to amend the treaty and will enter into force on the first day of the fourth month after the ratification instruments are exchanged.
