Vietnam's government reportedly announced on 16 June 2019 that it is seeking negotiations for an income tax treaty with Tajikistan following a recent meeting of officials from the two countries to discuss bilateral relations and cooperation. Any resulting treaty would be the first of its kind between the two countries and must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
